The title refers to the heavy and sensual atmosphere of William Faulkner’s novel (Light in August), where the drama broods before exploding.

Low, 2012, 18 mn

Production : Alice Bégon et Raphaël Deslandes, La Fémis, Paris

Low is a work about emotions based on the image-body interaction in motion.  Using dance and playing with film conventions, the viewer sees an evocation of disappearance and absence being traced in the embrace.  LL-B

Leo & la mer, 2014, 16 mn

Leo & la mer/Leo & the Sea has been constructed like a tale, influenced by German Romanticism.  A young girl lost on an island, holed up with her brother who builds wooden ships, is keen to leave, take flight, and run away.  She criss-crosses the territory physically and virtually until she is exhausted.  A desire for somewhere else underpins the narrative like a thread.  JR & LC

Gwendal Sartre

Gonzo, 2014, 13 mn

In a heavily decorated living room, eyes meet, without either narrative or words.  Strange lucky charms, skulls, pagan statues, and stuffed animals fill the premises and in silence witness an ambiguous scene between the three characters:  dance or physical abuse?  Preliminary confusions where gentleness vies with violence.  GS
